Award winning artist, Audrey Bunt, was born and raised in Cork, a city south of Ireland. She worked in a theater there and later moved to Canada. She lived in Thunder Bay, northern Ontario, and after a few years moved south of Ontario, then finally settled in Prince Edward when her primary passion of being creative brought painting to her life and she has pursued it wholeheartedly.
She discovered that painting was all that she had been searching for. She taught herself to paint, first in acrylics, and then oils, by reading extensively artists’ biographies, art history books, and every how-to book bought, borrowed or on loan from library .
Audrey is inspired by the Impressionists, and counts Joaquín Sorolla as her chief inspiration, because of her fascination with the effect of light on colour. Her favourite subject is the skies and landscape of PEI which allows her to explore the complexity of sunlight light, and shadow. Her bold and colourful paintings have become her signature work.
